Power Outage at Metro Blue Line

The Blue Line experienced delays after a power outage earlier Thursday.

The Blue Line's power outage has not been fully fixed, as Thursday rush hour traffic ensues.

Commuters chose to take buses or cars as the alternative mode of transportation.

Starting at 3pm, Blue Line trains have been running every 10 minutes between 7th St./Metro Ctr. and Imperial/Wilmington and every 20 minutes between Imperial/Wilmington and the Long Beach Transit Mall.

Metro also announced that extra Silver Line service will be added as an alternate travel route for downtown passengers who need to reach the Green Line. The service runs between Downtown L.A. and the Harbor Freeway Station.

The company is providing a delay verification service for passengers who need to provide proof of their travel problems to their employers or schools. Metro provided numbers for their customer relations department on their website: (213) 922-6235 and fax (213) 922-6988.

A power outage at a Metro train yard caused delays and limited service Thursday morning for the Blue Line.

The Blue Line was shut down from the Wilmington Imperial Station to the 7th and Flower Station and buses were provided for passengers to get to their destinations.

L.A. Metro says the line is one of the busiest in Los Angeles and that currently only partial service has been restored.

According to the service advisory on Metro's website, service will be provided every 20 minutes.  They warned to expect major crowding and have provided a list of alternate travel routes on their website.

All bus shuttles have been cancelled and the Harbor Transitway upcharge has been waived.
