Miracle Mile Shooting Shuts Down Wilshire [UPDATE]

A gunman on Wilshire Boulevard was taken into custody as SWAT moved in Monday afternoon.

[UPDATED| 8:27 a.m. February 7, 2012 After an hour-long standoff that brought already busy Los Angeles traffic to a halt, a team of sharpshooters was finally able to apprehend the suspect of a shooting on Wilshire Boulevard near La Brea Avenue.]

The shooting happened Monday at around 1:45 p.m., according to the LAPD Officer Gregory Baek. The victim, an unidentified man, was shot in the face by an unnamed suspect.

The suspect is now in custody with the LAPD. The victim was taken to the hospital, and according to Officer Baek, it did not appear that his condition was life threatening.

The motive behind the shooting is still unknown.
