The student was turning left onto 30th Street, and passed through an intersection without a stop sign. Witnesses said the student was not looking for oncoming traffic, and the car driver slammed on his brakes.

The biker hit the windshield, shattered it, and then fell down to the ground. He suffered head injuries, but remained conscious and coherent, according to witnesses at the scene.

Amy Mendzoa, a witness to the accident, heard the car screech as she was leaving her apartment. The driver was helping the injured student and reportedly felt very remorseful.
