Campus Bike Safety Plans Proposed
Students and faculty attended a bike safety presentation held by Kendall Planning and Design Company Thursday at Tommy's Place.
USC hired Kendall to make the campus more safe for bikers and pedestrians and impose new biking safety regulations.
Students and faculty attended the meeting to listen to Mark Simpson, Kendall's representative, discuss the company's future plans. Kendall plans to create designated bike-only lanes, bike rental programs, and new parking areas.
"We're interested in increasing education, advertising, and programming to get the word out there about what safe cycling should be and can look like on campus. And we're also going to be making some recommendations about infrastructure improvements on campus," Simpson said.
The company also proposed setting up a center where students could leave their bikes at the start of the day. However, students questioned the effectiveness of this plan.
