USC Medical Center's New Building Unveiled

USC's Medical Center unveiled a new building for the "Violence Intervention Program," providing more facilities and rooms to care for underprivileged patients. Sheriff Lee Baca attended the unveiling, along with many medical center leaders.

"It's close to the medical center. It's got some integrated services that can be provided here as opposed to an off-site location," Chief Clinic Administrator at LAC+USC, Chris Arevalo, said about the new location for the "Violence Intervention Program."

This project underwent a year-long planning process, and the building's construction was completed in about nine months.

"We may be living in East L.A. and we may be taking care of people who are poor, who are underprivileged or minorities who may not speak English. They deserve to have a place that they feel safe," the Medical Center Executive Director, Astrid Heger, commented in her speech during the unveiling.

These new developments will improve community development and provide the care that USC Medical Center offers for the surrounding neighborhood.
