No. 1 Men's Volleyball Faces CSUN in MPSF Quarterfinals

The Trojans hope to extend their winning streak to 18 with a win over Cal State Northridge on Saturday.

The top-ranked USC volleyball team will play Cal State Northridge on Saturday in the MPSF quarterfinals. The team wrapped up its season last week as MPSF champions with a final regular season record of 22-4. The team is currently riding a 17-game winning streak that reaches back to a win over Pepperdine on Feb. 10.

The Matadors are 12-17 on the season and come into the MPSF Tournament seeded eighth. USC has topped CSUN in four straight games, which includes a victory in the last week of the regular season. Henry Cassiday and Robert Feathers made major contributions in that match, with Cassiday recording 10 digs and Feathers coming up with six blocks. However, it was team co-captain Tony Ciarelli who had the most dominant performance with 19 kills and just one error in 22 attempts.

Ciarelli was named MPSF Player of the Year on Thursday and spoke to ATVN about winning the honor.

The winner of the MPSF championship gets an automatic bid to the NCAA Final Four. The game will be held at the Galen Center this Saturday at 7 p.m. Live stats and video streaming can be found at usctrojans.com.
