Mayor Villaraigosa is scheduled to speak at a ceremony heralding the bus tour.

Operation HOPE, a non-profit founded following the Rodney King verdict in 1992, has commissioned the 20th anniversary tour to offer a different perspective on South Los Angeles and its surrounding communities.

The tour, officially entitled trhe "Opportunity Bus Tour--from Chaos to Community" will feature other guest appearances and speeches from those who have found success through the organization's initiatives in the L.A. area.

The ceremony will also feature U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Rebecca Blank, who is expected to deliver a keynote address.

Operation HOPE has indicated that the bus tour is just one of several events that the organization is hoping to put on in 2012 to celebrate the progress made since the riots occurred.
