Study Shows Steady Population Growth

The USC Sol Price School of Public Policy published a report on Tuesday that outlines the issue of population growth in the state of California.
According to the report, population growth is occurring at a much slower rate than was reported in the official state population projections back in 2007.
"The population level previously expected for 2020 is not reached until 2028 (44.1 million)," the report said. "And the 50-million population mark previously anticipated for January 2032 is now expected in January 2046."
The report went on to state that the anticipated growth is "is very similar" to what was recorded in four of the last five census decades.
Among some of the report's other findings:
- The number of seniors is expected to quadruple in the next 20 years
- The population growth among children 18 and younger is actually expected to come to a halt
- The percentage of native Californians is slowly growing and could rise by as much as 12 percent over the next two decades.
