Schwarzenegger and USC Announce New Political Institute

Arnold Schwarzenegger teams up with USC to create a new political institute.

First JetBlue, and now the former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger - it's been a big week in partnerships for the Trojan Family! USC announced Thursday the establishment of the USC Schwarzenegger Institute for State and Global Policy.

"The University of Southern California is committed to promoting civic engagement both nationally and internationally, and the new Schwarzenegger Institute will advance this mission," said USC President Nikias.

The USC Schwarzenegger Institute will focus on the responbility of policymakers to transcend partisan mindsets, and implement policies that truly benefit the public.

The institute's board of advisors include international leaders in business, public service, and education according to the Sol Price School of Public Policy.

"Knowing USC's reputation as one of the nation's leading policy schools, I could think of no better home for this institute," said Schwarzenegger, who will chair the Board of Advisors.

The Institute will be funded by an initial gift by Schwarzenegger, as well as a commitment to raise an endowment.

The Schwarzeneggers have a history of Trojan Spirit. In 2009, Schwarzenegger spoke at USC's commencement ceremony, and received an honorary doctorate. This past spring Maria Shriver addressed the graduating Annenberg class. Katherine Schwarzenegger, their daughter, was among the class of 2012.

Arnold's son, Patrick Schwarzenegger, announced in May that he would be joining the USC class of 2015 via Facebook.
