The California Highway Patrol posted a 60-second YouTube video today informing the public on safety pre-cautions that should
In the video, Assistant Chief, Calvin Aubrey urged the public to "please avoid the 405 and obey all traffic signs and closures."
Before Carmageddon II happens, some of the 405 ramps between the Santa Monica and Ventura freeways will be closing as soon as 7 pm on Friday. By midnight, the entire freeway will be closed.
The freeway closures will allow crews to demolish the north half of the Mulholland bridge over the freeway.
The rebuilding of the Mulholland bridge is a component in the $1 billion Sepulveda Pass improvement project. This project will add an additional 10 mile northbound carpool lane and make improvements to the route. The project is anticipated to be completed next year.
