American Airlines Seats Hinge Backward On Passengers

American Airlines seats tip backward sparking safety concerns among passengers and clients.

Passenger seats in three different American Airlines flights detached from the plane floor causing safety hazards for flyers and resulting in three separate emergency landings.

American Airlines acknowledged Tuesday that seats came loose in a flight last week traveling from Vail, Colo. to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. This was the third time seats disengaged from the plane floor within the last week.

The airline company is inspecting aircrafts in their 757 fleet to determine the cause of the maintenance malfunction, said American Airlines spokesperson Matt Miller.

Long-time American Airline client and USC student, Morgan Greenwald, was not surprised with the flights' safety implications.

"Unfortunately, I do know American Airlines has a lot of flaws," she said. "What it comes down to is accessibility and convenience."

Greenwald and her family have been flying with American Airlines for nearly ten years. She said that the seats are "very close together" and the cleanliness is not up to par with other airlines.

But the seat hazards will not affect Greenwald's allegiance to the company.

"As long as I get there and I don't die, then I'm fine," said Greenwald.
