Downtown Target Grand Opening

The long awaited downtown Target has officially opened at Fig at 7th.

Dozens of people lined up at City Target's grand opening Sunday morning at the corner of Figueroa and 7th streets.

The Fig at 7th shopping and dining center has undergone a major face lift, with more than just Target on the horizon. Sports Chalet and Mendocino Farms are some of what can be expected in the renovated Fig at 7th. There is even a weekly food truck schedule available and a farmer's market every Thursday at 11 a.m.

“The people are happy that they finally have their very own Target right here in the LA area. It’s actually the largest retail lease that’s been signed in the last two decades,” says a store manager Simone Tatro.

"You have a lot of students, senior citizens that live down here without cars or a way to get around. It's good exercise," said Elizabeth Holling, who has lived in the area for over 40 years. "I am really proud and happy with Target here."

Not sure how to get there? Take the F Dash for 25 cents from the corner of Jefferson and Figueroa and hop off at Fig and 7th. Don't forget your eco-bags.
