Trump, who endorsed Republican candidate Mitt Romney in February for the upcoming presidential election, said in a video released Wednesday he would pay the money to a charity of the President's choice if he steps up to the challenge.

The New York-based mogul and television star has been a long-time critic of Obama. Last year, he publicly questioned whether the President had actually been born in the United States, prompting him to release his birth certificate.

Trump said Obama was "the least transparent president in the history of this country" and described his offer as “a deal that I don’t believe he (Obama) can refuse.”

David Plouffe, a campaign strategist for Obama, joked that Romney was the best person to speak to about Trump's offer.

“Direct those questions to Boston, because Trump is Mitt Romney’s biggest supporter, so he owns everything he says," Plouffe told The Washington Post.
