Clear Weather Expected After Six-Day Rain Spell
Though the precipitation ended mid-morning, early commuters were still afflicted with the slippery road conditions that have been plaguing the city for the past six days.
Between 12 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Monday morning, LA drivers racked up a total of 106 collisions on the rainy streets.
Since last Wednesday, downtown Los Angeles has accrued just under an inch of rain and LAX collected 1.18 inches, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Kathy Hoxsie.
The LA County Department of Public Health has issued a beach advisory in effect until Thursday that warns swimmers and surfers away from the ocean near creeks, storm drains, and rivers because of the potential for contaminated rainwater runoff.
Hoxsie reports that aside from a slight chance of rain north of Los Angeles on Thursday, the forecast is dry for the foreseeable future.
Monday temperatures continue to be mild, as they have been during the rain spell. However, they will rise up a few degrees Tuesday and remain steady before cooling down a bit on Friday. A mixture of clouds and sun are expected for the remainder of the week.
