Criminal Charges Filed As Dorner Manhunt Continues

Former LAPD officer and murder suspect Christopher Dorner was charged with capital murder Monday.

UPDATE | 3:45 p.m. PST: 33-year-old Christopher Jordan Dorner was charged with capital murder Monday as well as special circumstances that could lead to the death penalty, according to Riverside County District Attorney Paul Zellerbach.

Dorner, the suspect behind the 6-day manhunt spurred by the LAPD, was charged by Riverside County prosecutors today for the shooting death of Riverside police officer Michael Crain, as well as three counts of attempted murder for the alleged shooting of Crain's partner and two LAPD officers in Corona.

Mayor Villaraigosa has ordered that all flags be flown at half staff through Wednesday in honor of the slain officer.

"By both his words and conduct," said Zellerbach, "he has made it very clear to us that every law enforcement officer in Southern California is in danger of being shot and killed."

According to a federal arrest warrant affidavit filed last week, U.S. authorities believe Dorner may have already fled to Mexico.     The affidavit claims that Dorner's "personal belongings, including his wallet and identification cards," were found Thursday by San Diego police near the U.S.-Mexico border.

LAPD officials claimed to have received more than 600 tips since Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa offered a $1 million reward Sunday for information leading to the capture of Dorner. Villaraigosa said the funding for the reward came from "business, unions, government, law enforcement, and community groups."

LAPD Chief Charlie Beck called the massive reward, "The largest award ever offered locally."

"This is not about catching a fugitive suspect," said Chief Beck.  "It's about preventing a future crime, most likely a murder.  This is an act, make no mistake about it, of domestic terrorism.

Police responded to two false Dorner sightings Sunday night in Northridge.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced at a news conference Sunday afternoon that a $1 million reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Dorner, the largest local reward ever offered.

"We will not tolerate this reign of terror that has robbed us of the peace of mind that residents of Southern California deserve," Villaraigosa said.

The offer was raised by businesses, private donors and community groups.

Monday morning the Los Angeles Police Department suspended their tactical alert which allowed supervisors to hold officers past their shifts.

The alert was declared in connection with the manhunt for suspected murderer and ex-cop Dorner. However, LAPD motorcycle officers continue to patrol streets as a safety measure.

LAPD chief Charlie Beck announced over the weekend that he will be reopening the investigation on Dorner's disciplinary case, examining the files and talking to witnesses from the original hearing.

Police have been conducting a massive manhunt since the January 5 killings of Cal State Fullerton basketball coach 28-year-old Monica Quan and her fiance 27-year-old Keith Lawrence. Lawrence has been a DPS officer since August.

Dorner also allegedly ambushed some Riverside cops, killing one, and badly wounding the other. That officer remains in critical condition.

Dorner's burned-out truck was found Thursday near Big Bear Lake. Police have been focusing search efforts on this area.

Dorner's killing spree is allegedly a revenge attack upon the LAPD for his dismissal from the force in 2008.

The ex-cop was fired for making false accusations against fellow officers, he was represented before a police review board by Randal Quan, the father of murder victim Monica Quan. Dorner speaks of being wronged and unjustly fired in an 11-page manifesto justifying his actions.

Following the announcement of the reward, authorities were led to a search near the Northridge Fashion Mall by two separate callers reporting a man resembling Dorner seen in a home improvement store. Unfortunately, Dorner was not found on the February 10 search.

Anyone with leads on Dorner are encourage to call LAPD at 213-486-6860.

*The mental illness of all cops nationwide ( as inculcated by fbi homicidal sociopaths) is exemplified both in the actions of Mr. Dorner and in the psychopaths in blue who seek to murder him on sight. Such is the character of USA and the alpha dogs who run it.
