Fishing and Kayaking in the LA River?

The Glendale Narrows portion of the river will offer more outdoor recreation as part of a large-scale revitalization effort.

The Los Angeles River has appeared shallow and has been surrounded by concrete since the 1930s, but change is afoot.

Starting this May, there is a chance you may find kayaking, fishing, bird watching and boat launching in the Los Angeles River.

The L.A. River department will open a portion of the river - the Glendale Narrows - to recreation.

The summer project will operate as a pilot for the L.A. River plan, a revitalization effort targeting 11 of the river's 51-mile stretch.

Part of the LA River plan calls for replacing the 6th Street Bridge with a modern structure, surrounded by parks and bike paths.

The cost for the L.A. River Plan is estimated at just over one billion dollars, paid for by state and local government.
