Clinton and Ridley-Thomas Endorse Greuel
Los Angeles mayoral candidate Wendy Greuel has received key endorsements from both former President Bill Clinton on Monday, as well as L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas.
Clinton called Greuel a "smart, dedicated and creative problem-solver" in a letter Clinton wrote to supporters, claiming that Gruel "knows how to make government work for ordinary people."
Clinton and Gruel worked together during the Clinton Administration where she worked for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
"The endorsement demonstrates the momentum we are determined to build through May 21," noted Greuel. "President Clinton has been a role model for me of what strong leadership can mean in terms of creating jobs and building coalitions."
The support of Ridley-Thomas may be pivotal in helping Greuel gain the African American vote, which often proves to be the swing vote in Los Angeles.
Like Clinton, Ridley-Thomas' praised Greuel's unparalleled work ethic, as well as a "commitment to quality of life for all the people of Los Angeles."
Clinton and Ridley-Thomas' endorsements come as Greuel is preparing her campaign team for her runoff election with City Councilman Eric Garcetti on May 21.
Since Clinton and Ridley-Thomas' approval, Greuel has received several other key endorsements from organizations like the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, as well as Former Mayor Richard Riordan.
Eric Garcetti is also no stranger to big-name endorsers, whose list includes the Los Angeles Times and the California Democratic Party.
