Memorial Service Held for Junior Killed in Car Crash
A memorial service for the USC student killed in a two-car collision over spring break was held Tuesday evening in the Ronald Tutor Campus Center.
Xinhai Huang, 22, was in the passenger seat of a Ford Mustang when an alleged drunk driver ran a red light at Hyde Park Boulevard and West Boulevard, striking the Mustang.
The driver of the Mustang and another passenger were injured, and Huang was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead early in the morning on March 17.
Huang was an honors student in his junior year studying electrical engineering, Yannis Yortsos, dean of the Viterbi School of Engineering said in a statement.
“We grieve for a promising life cut short, and for his parents who have lost their son,” Yortsos said.
The Trojan family celebrated Huang's life at a memorial service Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Room 450 of the Ronald Tutor Campus Center.
"The university is working to provide support to the family, friends and the entire USC community," the USC Office of Student Affairs said in a statement. "We are all diminished by the loss of [this student]."
