UPDATE: Missing Northridge Girl Found Safe

The Northridge girl has been found near a strip mall about six miles from her home.

A 10-year-old Northridge girl who was reported missing from her Northridge home has been found in Canoga Park. She was found near a strip mall about six miles from her home.

ORIGINAL STORY|March 27, 2013 10:48 A.M. PST:

Police are searching for a 10-year-old girl who was reported missing early Wednesday morning from her family's Northridge home. The FBI has joined the LAPD in the search.

She was last seen sleeping in her bed at around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

When her mother checked in on her at 3:40 a.m., according to police, she discovered that Nicole was missing from their home on the 8000 block of Oakdale Avenue.

The LAPD has issued a Child Abduction Regional Emergency, or C.A.R.E., alert to inform the public of the girl's disappearance.

The 10-year-old, who has red hair and blue eyes and stands 4 feet, 11 inches tall, does not have a history of running away, according to her mother.

The LAPD's Devonshire Division is handling the investigation. Anyone with information should call the division at 818-832-0633 or 911.
