Poll Worker Shot at Watts Polling Station
A poll worker was shot and wounded Tuesday morning in the Watts neighborhood when an argument broke out outside his polling location.
The victim, who is in his mid-30's, was wounded and taken to a nearby hospital.
He was shot around 9:40 a.m. outside 92nd Street Elementary School, the polling place where he was working, police officer Bruce Borihanh said.
Investigators on the scene said the shooting occurred after a dispute broke out between the victim and a male suspect who fled the scene, LAPD spokesman Richard French said.
The argument was initially said to be a domestic issue, and police questioned the victim's girlfriend.
The polling place remained open after the shooting, but the elementary school was temporarily placed on lockdown.
