Honda Recalls Almost 44,000 Cars
On Moday, Honda announced a recall of nearly 43,800 Fit Sport models in the United States and another 2,000 in Canada.
"Honda will voluntarily recall 43,782 model-year 2012-2013 Fit Sport vehicles in the United States to update the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system software, free of charge," said a statement from Honda.
The Fit Sport models were recalled because of their tendancy to tilt too far during sharp turns. This defect could lead to the loss of tire traction, according to the National Highway Safety Administration.
The Japanese car company encourages owners to take their car to an authorized dealer and have it checked out.
The defect in the 2012-2013 Fit Sport models was discovered during Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FVMSS) compliance testing. Honda has not been made aware of any injuries or crashes due to this defect.
Owners of the defected cars will receive a mail notification in mid-May. Honda owners can also visit the recall website to see if their car requires a repair or call (800) 999-1009 and select option 4.
