Students Should Endeavour to See Space Shuttle

A few months ago, Angelenos watched as Space Shuttle Endeavour made its way to LA. This week on "Down Memory Layne," ATVN's Layne Kaplan finally visited the shuttle at the California Science Center.

Space Shuttle Endeavour's retirement from the cold, vast emptiness of space would seem to be a pleasant one; the shuttle's 156,000 pounds of titanium and aluminum rest on display in the temperate climes of Southern California.

But the location is ideal for USC students as well, housed at the California Science Center in Exposition Park, mere minutes from the center of campus.

Students can visit the shuttle, whose 25 trips to space and highly publicized trip accross the country have made it something of a symbol of the national space program, for a $2 service charge.

The exhibition features interactive exhibits in which museum-goers can touch the shuttle's tires, learn about the infamous "space potty," and participate in a flight simulator.
