USC to Host Mayoral Debate
USC and NBC will team up to host the Los Angeles mayoral debate between City Councilman Eric Garcetti and City Controller Wendy Greuel on April 22.
The debate will take place at the Louis B. Mayer Auditorium on the Health Sciences Campus, and will be moderated by NBC4 chief political reporter Conan Nolan.
Sol Price School of Public Policy Dean Jack H. Knott will serve as one of the questioners, along with KPCC's crime and politics reporter Frank Stoltze and Telemundo52 news anchor Ana Patricia Candiani.
“Providing this platform for both candidates to answer the important questions aligns with our commitment to serving local voters,” Knott said.
“We are pleased to host the debate and to continue to connect USC to the surrounding community.”
Topics for the evening's debate include the budget, the economy, and public safety.
A slew of debates between Garcetti and Greuel have been scheduled in the lead-up to the May 21 runoff election.
On Thursday, AJC Los Angeles, the Anti-Defamation League, and the American Jewish University are hosting a debate at the American Jewish University.
On April 24, the National Council fo Jewish Women/Los Angeles and Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice will host a debate moderated by CBS2/KCAL9 political reporter Dave Bryan.
