Pounding the Pavement for a Good Heart

Wednesday's Heart Walk aims to raise awareness about the importance of exercise.

The American Heart Association and Union Bank is hosting Wednesday the Greater Los Angeles County Heart Walk in Downtown L.A. 

The 30 mins walk aims to raise awareness about the importance of physical activity.

Marching on the National Walking Day, the one-mile group walk starts at 11:30 a.m. at Union Bank Plaza. 

Free health screening, CPR demostration, and Heart-healthy snacks will be provided at the venue.

The organizers are expecting the total of 5,000 walkers to march around the city along with friends, family, and co-workers.

The American Heart Association is the largest voluntary health organization working to prevent, treat and defeat heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. 

By 2020, the organization hopes to meet its goal to improve the heart health of Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent.
