Celebrity Children Protected by Paparazzi Law

Kelsey Grammer's daughter says new law is long overdue.

Among those voicing support for a new law that punishes photographers who harass the children of celebrities: Greer Grammer.

The daughter of actor Kelsey Grammer and Barrie Buckner  - and USC student - welcomed the law that aims to prevent paparazzi from hounding minors adding that it's long overdue.

The bill, which Governor Jerry Brown signed Wednesday, will increase the maximum jail time for harassment to one year, and fines can reach up to $30,000.

Parents are now able to sue paparazzi for damages as well.

Actresses Halle Berry and Jennifer Garner were among the coalition who supported the bill. Both told lawmakers in Sacramento about the dangers paparazzi pose for their children.

"When it comes to my children, or my child, when they are in fear of leaving the house, when they are suffering from nightmares, and feeling that they cannot move in the world in a free and safe way, that is when as a mother, I have to stand up for the rights of my children," Berry said.
