LAUSD Teacher Faces Molestation Lawsuit
A lawsuit claiming sexual abuse was filed against the Los Angeles Unified School District Wednesday.
The suit was filed by three former students and alleges that an El Sereno Elementary School teacher, Armando Gonzalez, molested up to 15 children from 2007 to 2011. It also claims that one student was ignored by the district after reporting the abuse.
Parents of victims, who ranged in age from 8 to 10 at the time of the abuse, said LAUSD officials were aware of the abuse but hid the truth from the public.
Attorney Luis Carrillo is representing the three girls and claimed the school district failed to protect its students.
School administrators refused to comment on the case. LAUSD issued a statement on the case: "As soon as we were made aware of the allegations of misconduct against Armando Gonzalez in March 2010, we immediately reported it to law enforcement and house the teacher. Gonzalez has not been in the classroom since."
Gonzalez has not made a statement about the case.
