DUI Checkpoint Near Campus Tonight

The checkpoint comes days after alcohol-related incidents prompted the university to issue party restrictions on The Row.

Days after alcohol related incidents prompted the university to issue party restrictions on The Row, the Los Angeles Police Department is holding a checkpoint Thursday night between Figueroa and 33rd Street.

From 6 p.m. until midnight, police will conduct drunk driving tests and check driver's licenses.

According to a statement released by the LAPD, "The purpose of this checkpoint is two-fold. First, to educate the public to not drink and drive. And second, to arrest intoxicated drivers."

"The reason why we are doing this checkpoint on Figueroa is because there is a significant number of DUI's in that area," according to the department's statement.
