The Battle of The Wedge

A battle resurfaced in Newport Beach between the body surfers and surfboarders about the popular wave spot, the Wedge.

A long time battle resurfaced in Newport Beach about who owns the right to the Wedge, a popular wave spot for both surfboarders and body surfers.

The current time constraint is that from May 1 to October 31, if the blackball flag is displayed, then surfboards are not allowed in the water.

A new petition is now going around to end all time constraints on the wedge, allowing surfboards and body surfers in the water at the same time, which many claim is a dangerous mix.

A Newport Beach city panel will review regulations Monday night.

A surfer in the Newport Beach area, Ryan Morgan, believes the water should be open for everyone.
