Food Banks Cut Off by Government Shutdown

LA food banks may run out of supplies in the coming weeks thanks to the government shutdown.

Workers at the LA Regional Food Bank are starting to worry the government shutdown may affect their food supplies in the coming weeks.

Tuesday's government shutdown cut off all food deliveries.

Right now there is only about three weeks worth of food left --  food bank workers say they distribute about one million pounds of food on a typical week.

If the shutdown continues, the food bank will reach out to the private sector to get food and other donations.

For the time being, they are hoping to get as many volunteers as possible to stay afloat.
