LA Freeway Beautification Project Underway

LA's infamously busy highways will be revamped in a beautification project announced Wednesday.

Los Angeles Metro is partnering with CalTrans in a highway beautification project across multiple streches of LA's busiest highways.

Improvements include repairing landscape and irrigation systems, removing graffitti and trash, as well as putting in drought tolerant plants that will be easier to maintain.

The project will cost the city 4.7 million dollars, 2.3 million of which will be focused on the replainting along three highway spots in particular.

The landscaping will reduce erosion and clean up storm water. LA Metro officials believe these efforts will help boost tourism and provide a safer travel experience for LA residents.
