L.A. County Workers Rally For Higher Wages

Thousands of local workers protested in downtown Los Angeles.

Thousands of Los Angeles County workers demanded higher wages as they marched downtown Tuesday morning.

Members of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 721, walked off their jobs after their contracts expired at midnight. According to union organizers, workers are tired of having county administrators dismiss their requests, especially those calling for an increase in pay.

County workers want to ensure that their new contracts will accurately reflect their proposals. While they have yet to come to an agreement regarding the labor dispute, negotiations between workers and administrators are currently underway.

The demonstration forced the closing of multiple streets and caused a traffic jam in the surrounding area.
