"My Figueroa" Aiming For Bike-Friendly Street

LA officials met Wednesday to discuss plans for the "My Figueroa" streetscape project.

The Los Angeles City Council's Transportation Committee held a special meeting Wednesday at City Hall to discuss the "My Figueroa" streetscape project.

According to the project's website, "The Figueroa Corridor Streetscape project seeks to transform the Figueroa Corridor into a complete, multimodal street that better serves the needs of pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit riders, while still accommodating drivers."

Three components of the $20 million street enhancement include: Adding better signals and street signs, developing a three-mile bikeway and creating separate tracks for bikers to distance them from roadway traffic.

These changes will be implemented along a four-mile stretch of Figueroa from downtown to South LA.
