Philippines Earthquake: Aftershocks Continue

Tuesday's earthquakes left more than 140 people dead.

An earthquake that rocked the central Philippines Tuesday has left more than 140 people dead.

Philippines resident Mary Denise Maluyao told ATVN via Skype that she has experienced more than 200 aftershocks in the 24 hours after the quake first struck.

The earthquake, which had a 7.2 magnitude, has caused significant damage to the religious structures in the central part of the country.

Officials told the Associated Press that the death toll was lower than expected since the quake took place on a national holiday to observe Eid al Adha.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
