Rose Parade Announced Its Royal Court

The seven finalists were amongst 30 finalists who were asked to attend the announcement at the Tournament House

Pasadena, CA-- The Royal Court members of the 2014 Rose Parade were announced Monday in Pasadena.

The members are Anna Marie Acosta, 17, Sarah Elizabeth Hansen, 19, Kayla Diyana Johnson-Granberry, 17, Jamie Ann-Kwong, 17, Katherine Diane Lipp, 17, Elyssia Hadi Widjaja, 17, and Elizabeth Katie Woolf, 17.

The members were announced at the Tournament House where large groups of friends and family were there to share the moment.

Even the 2008 Rose Queen, Dusty Gibbs, made an appearance at the Tournament House to congratulate the recipients and give advice on how to handle the sudden fame.

The seven young ladies were chosen from more than 1,000 applicants throughout the Pasadena area according to the Tour of Roses. 

Royal Court members were chosen based on specific criteria including poise, speaking ability, academic achievement, and both school and community service involvement.

The court will now continue on to participate in more than 1,000 community events including the announcement taking place on October 24th where one of the seven princesses will be named the 2014 Rose Queen.
