Food Stamps Cut Affects LA Families

Local families will be affected by the government's food stamp program cuts.

The food stamps program, along with many other government benefit programs, will be facing cuts to their funding if Congress fails to come up with a new budget.

The federal cuts will take effect Friday and impact more than 47 million Americans, 4 million in California that benefit from the program, including 2.3 million children.

Maria Lua, a mother of five that lives in Hawthorne shared her thoughts on how she will get through the month without the help of food stamps.
