Starbucks to Hire 10,000 Vets in Five Years

Starbucks revealed a new plan to hire 10,000 veterans and their spouses in the next five years.

Starbucks announced a new initiative Wednesday that will provide 10,000 veterans and military spouses with jobs over the next five years.

Additionally, five Starbucks stores on or near military bases in the U.S. will donate a portion of each sale to a non-profit organization that helps veterans re-enter the workforce.

Starbucks board member and former Defense Secretary Robert Gates said the initiative was developed with the hope of utilizing the unique communication, leadership and problem-solving skills veterans and their families posess.

"The more than one million transitioning U.S. veterans and almost one and half million military spouses -- with their diverse background and experience -- share our mission-driven sensibility and work ethic and can build long-term careers at Starbucks as they return home," Starbucks Chairman Howard Schultz said.
