USC Students Mentor High Schoolers in the Arts

Volunteers hosted visual and performing arts workshops for high schoolers.

Local high school students gathered in USC's Taper Hall Saturday for the Product of My Dreams mentorship day.

“This was designed for high school youth, especially foster and at risk youth,” mentorship director Ama Amoafo-Yeboah said.

Saturday marked Product of My Dreams' "Visual and Performing Arts Day" at USC. High schoolers from Executive Prep Academy of Finance and Peace for Kids attended a series of panels and workshops throughout the day.

Current and former USC students Amoafo-Yeboah and Jason Sneed founded Product of My Dreams because they are passionate about the arts, and wanted to help others reach their goals by sharing this passion.

High schoolers attended dance, acting and photography workshops Saturday at Taper Hall, and spoke with volunteers from Product of My Dreams about using art to reach their goals. Volunteers said they were inspired to host these workshops by their own high school experiences.

“For me, photography was really a wake-up call in high school," volunteer mentor Anaka Morris said.

"I think that talking to kids in high school and [making them] realize it’s not too late to find your dream is really important.”
