Fans Mourn Death of Paul Walker

"Fast and Furious" star Paul Walker died Saturday in a car crash.

Hundreds of Paul Walker fans paid tribute to the "Fast and Furious" star Monday, laying down flowers and candles on the road where he died.

Walker, 40, died Saturday in a fiery car crash in Santa Clarita. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept., the Porsche his friend Roger Rodas was driving slammed into a light pole and burst into flames on Hercules Street in Valencia. Both Walker and Rodas died in the accident.

"My heart just dropped [when I heard about Walker's death]," said Robert Caretto, a self-proclaimed "die-hard Paul Walker fan" who brought a bouquet of roses to the crash site. "I was just waiting for a thing [to show up] on the Internet saying it was a hoax."

Sheriff's Sgt. Richard Cohen said "high speed" was likely a factor in the collision, but it wasn't clear how fast the Porsche was going. The speed limit at the scene of the accident is 45 miles per hour.

"It takes a lot of speed to cause that impact and mess up a car that bad," said Abi Reyes, an auto mechanic who saw the wreckage before it was cleared.

Remnants of the crash were still strewn across the ground Monday. Rose Miller, another long-time "Fast and Furious" fan, picked through the dirt alongside investigators and took him a handful of souvenirs.

"I found pieces of maybe a windshield, or the fiberglass from the inside of the car," said Miller. "Unfortunately, it's not an autographed picture or a nice memory, but it's something [to remember Paul Walker by]."

Miller said she had been looking forward to more "Fast and Furious" movies starring Walker.

Walker's "Fast and Furious" co-star Tyrese Gibson wrote on his Instagram: “My heart is hurting so bad no one can make me believe this is real Father God I pray that you send clarity over this cause I just don’t understand. My heart hurts it’s broken no one can convince me that this is real."
