Southern California Prepares for Heavy Rainfall

Two back-to-back storms are expected to hit the area.

Heavy storms are expected to hit Glendora, Azusa, and La Canada as the storm spreads south into Ventura and Los Angeles County.

Officials and residents braced for mudslides and floods. The storm is expected to drift through areas affected by recent brush fires.

Glendora issued a voluntary evacuation for areas in danger of flooding.

The areas hit by the Colby Fire were at a greater risk of mudslides. The Glendora City Manager urged residents to take advantage of sandbags and other preparation materials made available by the city.

Residents in high risk areas were required to sign a refusal to evacuate form sayin they understood the danger of staying.

Hundreds of homes at the base of the San Gabriel mountains could face mudslides and flooding.

Some La Canada residents were living in the area when five hundred homes were evacuated during the 2010 floods.

The community has taken extra precautions by passing out sandbags, securing blockaids and building irrigation to redirect rushing waters and debris.
