Panel Finds LAPD Officers Violated Policy During Dorner Manhunt
Update | Feb. 5 3:52 p.m.: The 36-page police commission report cited the seven officers and a sergeant were inadequately prepared for the incident.
Original Story | Feb. 4 7.24 p.m.: The Los Angeles Police Commission said eight LAPD officers violated policy during the manhunt for fired LAPD Officer Christopher Dorner.
The officers opened fire on two women delivering newspapers in Torrance because they drove a truck similar to the one Dorner was believed to be driving.
Police said the two other officers who exchanged fire with Dorner earlier that same morning were not acting out of line and will not be punished.
"Our officers aren't perfect," said Cmdr. Andrew Smith. "We realize that our officers are going to sometimes make mistakes."
