City Council Approves New Training for Foster Care Workers
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a plan Tuesday to help prevent foster children from being sexually exploited.
The plan provides training to child welfare workers and people who run group homes.
A sex trafficking vicim and a child welfare advocate said it's important to teach people how to detect signs of sexual exploitation in children.
Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas said it is time to take a stance against exploitation. He believes this plan will alert care takers to what's already going on and help prevent future exploitation.
