Crews Continue Clean Up of Texas Oil Spill

Environmental experts say the nearby shorebird population is especially at risk.

The Houston Ship Channel will reopen today after a barge crash on Saturday caused nearly one hundred and seventy thousand gallons of oil to spill off the coast of Texas. Officials are still assessing the damage caused by the spill, but environmental expert James Fawcett say the nearby shorebird population is especially at risk.

Kirby Inland Marine Corp has taken responsibility for the spill and cleanup costs. The Houston-Based company is the nation's largest operator of inland barges. No one knows yet how long the cleanup process will take.
