Pope Francis Celebrates One-Year Anniversary

The Pope celebrated his first-year of papacy with a signature tweet.

Pope Francis rang in his first year as the leader of the world's 1.2 billion catholics on Thursday.

To commemorate the occasion, he asked his 3.8 million Twitter followers to "Please pray for me."

Born in Argentina, he is the first Latin American pope in history. He is known for having denounced the luxuries previous popes have embraced.

Pope Francis maintains a high approval rate, with 88 percent of Catholics reporting being satisfied with him and classifying him as more socially progressive than his predecessors.
