Burrito Vending Machine Comes to USC

Think Redbox but with burritos.

The automated vending machine that dishes out hot burritos, Burritobox, launched its first vending machine on a university campus at USC Wednesday at midnight.

Hundreds of students lined up outside Parkside Apartments to get a free burrito from the "world's first burrito kiosk," as it is advertised.

For the first 24 hours, customers will be able to get a free burrito using the promotional code "Trojans."

Customers can choose from chorizo sausage, roasted potato, uncured bacon and more in their burritos. The vending machine also offers a vegan option and guacamole for an extra fee.

Kris Klinger of USC Hospitality said Burritobox is "mostly for people who are up late and hungry after everywhere closes." He also said it doesn't look to replace the traditional USC dining hall experience.

There are currently only three kiosks in the United States, with two being in Santa Monica.

Students can get free burritos until March 26 at 11:59 p.m. at 3730 South McClintock Avenue.
