Education Advocates Protest for Extra Funds from LAUSD
The Los Angeles Unified School District board unveiled a new three-year budget, but protesters called on the board to give more money to underserved students.
Demonstrators placed 375 desks in the street outside the board room, one for every LAUSD student who drops out of school each week.
The proposed budget increased spending for underserved students by 335 million dollars. Superintendent John Deasy said this is a historical change.
The proposed budget will go to an advisory board where it will be modified before it is put to a vote in june.
