LAPD Accused of Tampering with Recording Devices

Officials said half of the patrol cars at one South LA division are missing antennas.

Los Angeles Police Department investigators are looking into claims their officers are tampering with voice recording equipment in patrol cars.

Officials said half of the patrol cars at one South LA division are missing antennas.

It is unclear whether the officers are the ones removing them, or why they might be doing this. Officials said they can still monitor what goes on in patrol cars without antennas.

Chief Beck said the LAPD first learned about this issue last summer. They plan to continue investigating.
