Tavis Smiley Receives Star on Walk of Fame

Jay Leno and Larry King joined Smiley as he received the honor.

Talk show host Larry King and 'Tonight Show' host Jay Leno joined Smiley as his name was cemented into Hollywood history.

Smiley has hosted shows on BET, National Public Radio, and PBS, and he's worked as a commentator for local television and radio stations, including KABC-7. 

A native of Mississippi, Smiley has authored 16 books and owns The Smiley Group, a communications company with interests in publishing, lecturing and digital enterprises.

In 2009, Smiley was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine.
