USC Baseball Travels to WSU After Snapping Nine-Game Winning Streak
The No. 24 USC baseball team (24-18, 11-9) snapped a season-long nine-game winning streak last night with a 6-2 home loss to UC Irvine at Dedeaux Field. It was the Trojans' first loss since April 11, finishing the month with an 11-5 record.
Reigning PAC-12 Offensive Player of the Week senior catcher Jake Hernandez went 2-for-4 at the plate and scored a run. Hernandez talks about the team ending their winning-ways and looking forward to starting another win streak.
"It's just like any other weekend series," said Hernandez. "We go into it knowing that we need to stick to our game, which is playing good defense, pitch really well—throw strikes—and stick to low and hard up the middle as our offensive approach."
USC will now travel up to Pullman, Wash. to take on Washington State in a three-game series beginning Friday evening. This will be the Trojans last road trip for the regular-season, as they finish out with seven of eight games in the confines of Dedeaux.
