USC Recognizes Holocaust Remembrance Day

USC Hillel holds a special dinner with a Holocaust survivor.

Monday is the final day of Yom HaShoah, also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day. USC Hillel, the Jewish community group on campus, is holding an event to commemorate this day. The group is hosting a dinner with a special guest who lived through the Holocaust. Students invovled in Hillel have expressed that they feel incredibly honored to meet with a survivor. They recognize Yom HaShoah not only to remember the past, but to make sure that a similar kind of oppression of a particular group of people does not occur in the future.

In Israel, the day is treated with grave seriousness as the country honors those who were killed during World War II. The country unites in a moment of silence following the widespread sound of sirens to remember Holocaust victims.
