Organizers Urge Water Conservation Across the Nation

Mayors across the nation are challenging Americans to save more water.

Tuesday marked the launch of the National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation.

The month-long effort aims to reduce water usage by at least five percent.

People have been posting pledges on the official website to take shorter showers and reduce faucet and sprinkler use.

Organizers of the challenge said kids are an important part of their conservation goals. They spoke with elementary schoolers in Downtown Los Angeles about why every drop counts.
